Winter Cold Fighting Soup

Summer is over and as we've entered autumn we need to get ready to embrace the cold weather. For the next 6 months we will have to make sure that our immune system is strong enough to avoid colds and flues. Wise food choices are important if you want to stay away from viruses.

Here's a very quick and easy soup recipe to help your immune system:


1 small white onion 2 crushed garlic cloves 2 sweet chopped sweet potatoes 1/2 chopped head of broccoli 2 chopped carrots 2 chopped celery stalks 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon of ginger powder 1 pinch of salt 1 pinch of black pepper 1 tablespoon of cold pressed olive oil 4 cups of broth (vegetable or chicken) 1 tablespoon of yogurt kefir


Chop onion and garlic for a few 30 seconds in a pan with olive oil over medium heat. Chop the rest of the vegetables and add them to the pan. Add the broth and the spices. Bring to boil and cover the pan until the vegetables are soft. Blend the soup content into a smooth puree. Serve in a bowl and some kefir yogurt on top. Enjoy!
